I was a "born-in", mid 1940's. If you're not a troll then my simple advice based on all those years would be :

just in case you are planning to celebrate st george's day today, furl up the flag until next monday despite what your diary might say.. no saints day can be celebrated during the week before or after easter so this year it has been postponed until 28 april, next monday.

there have been instances such as 2019 when "politicians" such as keir starmer, theresa may and sadiq khan have waved their flag on the 23rd in error.

Memorial talk the SAME EVERY YEAR no anointed??

yeah so got invited this year and just thought what a waste of my time no one partakes in the wine or bread the talk has been the same for 20 years i would rather stay home.

I would disagree with your assessment that the talk has been the same for 20 years. I cannot say when it changed but not so many years ago. We no longer hear anything about the Exodus, Passover or the New Moon. Even the Memorial song has changed.

It's all about the First Century and Jesus New Covenant now. Why is this? Probably realised they do not celebrate it on the correct day.

Any ideas?

Did Watchtower Really Teach That Armageddon Was Coming in 1954?

in the march 2025 jw broadcast david splane in his morning worship talk mentioned that "some thought" that armageddon would come 40 years after 1914. such statements are usually meant to shift the blame of their own false predictions on to their members for speculating.

however, i was unable to find anything in print showing that such a thing was indeed taught by the society.

was this really a thing?.

Like so many of my age, born in the 1940's I would never go to school in this old system. Well I did and by 1954 was well established in school and the rest is history as they say. I have never heard about 1954 as anything special.

Will They Change the Memorial Talk This Year?

Some years ago the Memorial talk was completely changed. From that time on there has been no mention of Nisan 14 and the Israelites in Egypt, killing the lamb, sprinkling the blood etc. The complete Passover part was removed. Even the song, "'twas Nisan 14 when your glory was seen...." was removed and substituted with another.

Can anyone remember the year this change took place? I never heard any explanation as to why the change but just assumed they had discovered they were celebrating on the wrong after all.

@liam That's not actually true. If you go on to jw dot org, videos and type in the search Anthony Morris you will find loads of his videos. That is how I found the GB update where he said they will NEVER change. I posted that a couple of days ago.
